Family Liaison Support Worker

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Shelley Beckett, a lot of you will know me well and I am looking forward to getting to know our new children and parents over the coming months and years. I am part of the fantastic Learning Support Team we have here at Ysgol Croes Atti and I am also your Family Liaison Support Worker.

A Family Liaison Support Worker role is mainly to support you and your child to get the very best from the school by providing support, information and advice. I can help with any worries that you may have and how best to resolve them (well if I can’t, we can work it out together or I will know someone who can ).

As you all know only too well being a parent is not an easy job and at times things get tough, I take my hat off to you all but sometimes we all need a little helping hand and that’s what I’m here for.

Some of the issues some parents may face include:

  • Behaviour in and out of school
  • Parenting concerns
  • Attendance
  • Transitions
  • Bullying
  • Family issues
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Physical health
  • Healthy eating
  • Feeling isolated
  • Unemployment
  • Finances/Benefits
  • Housing
  • Training and Education

How can I help?

If any of the above issues are worrying you or you just need someone to talk to, no matter how small it may feel, get in touch, I may be able to help.

I can meet to talk to you wherever you feel comfortable

  • Offer a friendly and confidential listening ear
  • Find services and or other agencies who may be able to support you and your family
  • Help with forms and applications
  • Give hints and tips on general parenting
  • Help you see what you are doing well as a parent
  • Aid and encourage good attendance
  • Foster positive relationships between home and school

I will aim to be on the playground as often as I can after school, so come over and say hello and feel free to have a chat. (I don’t bite  ). You can also arrange a meeting with me at school, your home or anywhere you would prefer.

I will also be looking at setting up some exciting things over the coming year and will be updating you on our Twitter page, website, newsletter, during Magu Monday (Shotton) and Teulu Tuesday (Flint) and in person…. So watch this space.

I can be contacted on the school’s numbers – Flint 01352 733335 & Shotton 01244 812806.
